Therapeutic Staff
john John Macy, Registered Physical Therapist
John Macy P.T. has been teaching people how to improve their coordination and movement for over twenty years. As a Physical Therapist he has worked directly with thousands of people with injuries and dysfunctional movement patterns that limit their ability to participate in life at the level they desire. His therapeutic approach focuses on restoring a person's mechanical ability to move optimally and combines this with teaching how to use this ability in any activity. By using this approach clients learn how to help themselves and improve their performance in their favorite activities.

Mr. Macy has specialized in treatment techniques that improve the body's structural ability to move such as Strain-Counterstrain, Myofascial Release and CranioSacral therapy. In addition, Mr. Macy has taught the Alexander Technique since 1982, is a certified Stott PilatesTM matwork instructor, and started the first Back to GolfTM program in Omaha, a sport-specific holistic program of therapy, exercise, and training to improve golf performance.

John completed four courses from the Postural Restoration Institute in Lincoln, Nebraska, (Myokinematic Restoration, Postural Respiration, Cranial-Mandibular Restoration, and Advanced Integration) and is certified in Postural Restoration. Website

alison

Alison Stevens, MA, PT
As the owner of Ronin Physical Therapy in New York City, Ms. Stevens built a unique practice over more than 12 years as a movement educator with specialization in martial arts and dance medicine. She also brings to her practice studies with Irene Dowd, Fran Parker, and Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen (Body-Mind Centering). Her studies of human movement include a degree in dance (1981), Laban Movement Analysis, anatomy, yoga, and Aikido, which she has studied for the past 17 years and has received her 3rd degree black belt (2006). She is also a certified Polestar Pilates Rehabilitation Specialist.

In her physical therapy practice, she utilizes manual techniques (predominately Strain/Counterstrain), and therapeutic exercise to return patients to optimal pain-free function. Philosophically, she believes that the therapeutic relationship is a collaboration between the patient and the therapist, where both work together to achieve the patient's optimal musculo-skeletal health. Alison is also a certified Post Rehabilitative Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist.
