Pilates
is a unique and specific form of movement training that teaches
body awareness, correct breathing techniques, with stability and
control of the spine, pelvis, and shoulder girdle as you move through space. Our educated, well-trained, and experienced Pilates staff is dedicated to
providing you with a superior Pilates experience.
Our
goal is to give you a Pilates program that is safe and effective
for your body. We don't just teach exercises: we design a program
specific to your needs. We feature a full-line of Pilates equipment
including the cadillac or trap table, reformers, stability chairs,
ladder barrel, arc barrels, and spine corrector. All of the larger
equipment uses springs as the resistance mechanism to help increase
strength and endurance. We work with beginners as well as advanced
students and athletes.
Pilates can also be an excellent form of back therapy as it teaches
the patient how to strengthen abdominal muscles correctly and release
tension in the back as the spine becomes more flexible. Learning
to use the diaphragm and abdominal muscles as the primary breathing
muscles can reduce tension in the neck and jaw. The body can become
stronger gradually as muscle firing patterns change and muscle imbalances
begin to disappear.
Reformer,
cadillac, barrel, and chair sessions by appointment only.
|
| Unless
noted otherwise, sessions are 55 minutes in length.
There
are no drop-in classes unless noted. Schedule accurate as of March 2010. |
