We are sad to announce that Nancy Fischer passed away on April 30, 2009.
Nancy was the founder and driving force behind The Workout since its inception in 1991. She was the first teacher of Pilates in the Omaha area, and was also a mentor to other instructors and practitioners as the field grew. Always interested in movement and health, she was a certified yoga teacher through Omaha Yoga and Bodyworks. Nancy continued her education in many directions, most recently through the Postural Restoration Institute in Lincoln under Ron Hruska, P.T. Through her efforts, The Workout became a certified Postural Restoration Center in 2008.
Nancy will best be remembered for the care and attention she lavished on her clients. Through her gentle encouragement, many people explored Pilates and yoga for the first time, or recovered from injury or illness under her care. In The Workout, she created a space for personal growth and change, and countless clients benefited from working with her. Her integrity, joy and passion for the work, and genuine care for others always shone forth.
In addition to golfing and her love of the mountains, Nancy was an avid gardener, and we will all miss the flowers that graced our space. Throughout spring, summer, and fall Nancy's garden was filled with color and activity. Flowers and plants flourished under her care in much the same way as clients, friends, and family did. Like all of us, they too will miss her quiet, nurturing touch and warm smiles. |
